Biohazard Cleanup

Biohazard Cleanup is needed for any substance or material that can transmit a biological hazard and often times poses a significant health risk. These materials are often present in sewage backups, hoarding situations, chemical spills and homicide/suicide cleanups.

In order to prevent the spread of disease and risk contamination, a professional should be used to clean this type of hazard. Atlantic professionals can remove any contaminated materials, disinfect the affected area, clean and deodorize any all surfaces.

Avoid The Dangers Of Biohazards

Coming in contact with biohazards can be extremely dangerous to your health and safety. Do not attempt to clean it up on your own, as trauma and biohazard cleanup must be done according to strict health and safety procedures. Some of the risks you need to be aware of are exposure to bloodborne pathogens which can lead to illnesses like:

  • HIV AIDS: HIV is a human immunodeficiency virus that attacks the body’s immune system. If it’s not treated properly, HIV can lead to AIDS. There is currently no cure for HIV AIDS, but it can be managed with proper medical care.
  • Hepatitis A: This virus causes acute inflammation of the liver. It can be more serious in older populations, but people almost always recover from it on their own. It can easily spread from person to person through food and water.
  • Hepatitis B: This virus can be both acute (short-term illness) and chronic (ongoing illness). It’s spread through blood or other body fluids. Coming in contact with a trauma disaster can put you at risk of contracting Hepatitis B.
  • Hepatitis C: Shortened to HCV, is almost always a chronic disease and spreads only by blood. While there are vaccines for Hepatitis A and B, there is currently not one for Hepatitis C. There are, however, many medications available to treat Hepatitis B and C.
